Penny Coleman said:I am a Mom of a child who has survived cancer. I am also priveleged to be a friend of another Mom who has a child with cancer and has relapsed for the 3rd time. This family, the Amdals, have another daughter getting married this spring. Her name is Chelsea Amdal. She is the oldest child and has sacrificed much of her childhood taking care of her siblings while her parents take care of the cancer child. They are completey zapped financially from chemo treatments and hospital bills. The mothers greatest regrets from her own wedding were how awful her own bridal photos turned out. The photos for Chelsea’s wedding need to be spectacular. Green Orchid has that talent. This wedding will capture this family with a beautiful older sister ( and a younger sister in treatment for cancer ) and their whole family together. What an incredible day it will be. It needs to be remembered forever. I hope so much you will choose the Amdals.

Megan Fernquist said:It’s taken us a long time to get here, but Ben and I are finally ready
to get married. We started dating two years ago, but in those two
years we’ve spent 11 months apart, in places ranging from India to
Seattle, Kyrgyzstan to Boston. It was hard having a long distance
relationship for so long, but I think that has made us stronger.
We’re not the kind of couple who has never had a fight, but because of
this we know how to resolve issues, work together, and make each other incredibly happy. Our parents are not extremely well off–my dad is a teacher and Ben grew up on a farm. So for the most part, we are being left to pay for everything ourselves. We’re getting married in May in Nauvoo, and the week after that we are flying to Thailand for the summer. He got an internship there that is an amazing opportunity,
but unfortunately is unpaid. We’re taking a big hit financially,
especially since we are both poor college students. We’re trying to
make budget cuts everywhere we can, but we really want to have photos to remember our day (or engagement). My senior year of high school my parents wouldn’t pay for senior photos, and as a dramatic 17 year old this was the worst thing in the world and I vowed I would not miss out again when I got married. As silly as I was, a part of me still really wants the opportunity to remember little moments and how we looked and how happy we are now (after all, I’ll never look as good as I do now, right?). I don’t have a dramatic story for you, just an
admiration for your work and a desire to better remember the most
wonderful day of my life.

Melissa Arakaki said:I would love to win this for my little sister! She is getting married in August to her high school sweetheart. Even though there is almost 7 years difference between my sister and I, she is my best friend and has seen me through a million ups and downs in my own life. I would love to be able to win this for her! Your work is beautiful, and I know that you could capture their special day perfectly!

Crystal Wilkinson said:I’ve been looking for a photographer with an eye for detail and a little on the modern side and I think you might be it. My finance and I are so excited for our June wedding at a secluded cabin in Sundance. It’s going to be a beautiful, intimate setting, a perfect place to exchange vows. Most of all I’m looking forward to making a life with my best friend and his amazing 5 year old daughter. I’d love to win this package and have the photos of my wonderful day!

Catherine said:I am getting married to a wonderful man in April, and I am so excited. But wedding planning has been a nightmare so far! Both families have had so many objections and complaints–mine lives 5,000 miles away and is concerned about logistics, his lives 2,000 miles away and is concerned about wedding location and such–and then there’s the issue of budget, most of which is being spent bringing our families out for the wedding.
I would LOVE to have my wedding day documented by a professional photographer, but so far we haven’t found room in our budget for that. Winning this package would be a dream come true for me!!

Racquel Augat said:I remember trying to plan my wedding on a very tight budget, but at least I had a budget to work with. I would like to nominate my very best friend’s daughter, Chelsea Amdal, who is getting married this June. They have pretty unusual circumstances as Chelsea’s sister has been battling cancer for over 12 years now. Her other sister is also developing some serious medical issues. With all the bills and traveling expenses to take care of their children, their budget is pretty much dried out for a wedding. Chelsea’s parents are wonderful people who never complain about their circumstances. Even after, 13 years, it is hard for them to accept help. But they would like their oldest daughter, who, at 8 years old, had to grow up quickly at her sister’s diagnosis, to have a memorable wedding. Chelsea was a great support to her parents/siblings during the journey. She was always smiling and happy even though she was asked to babysit, cook, clean and sacrifice childhood pleasures to help out. She is a very deserving woman of this opportunity and your generosity will be greatly appreciated and remembered far into the future as Chelsea has beautiful photos to reminisce her wedding. Thank you for considering Chelsea Amdal for your benefactor.

Chelsea Amdal said:I am go grateful for being suggested to come and enter this contest! I am getting married in May and have a pretty tight budget for my wedding. My parents aren’t able to help much with the cost of everything due to all the medical issues going on with my two younger sisters. It would be such a blessing to have wonderful pictures that capture this special time in my life! So thank you so much for considering me.

He is my best friend and has helped me through so much! We want this wedding to be the best it can be with our small budget. We will be getting married in Draper, Utah and we are so excited! This is such a big moment in our lives and we would like to have you help us remember how brilliant it is through your photography!

Ashley L. said:Thank you for posting this opportunity. I feel that it would be an honor to win this contest. I would be so entirely grateful as to serve as an ambassador, to recommend you to friends, family, and co-workers. I am a photographer myself. I feel that your work is artistic coupled with creative spontaneity. I would love to see MORE! I have struggled to find a photographer that actually… IS a photographer. Now-a-days, anyone with a camera thinks they are a photographer. I need someone to preserve my memories in a modern- yet pristine way. I love the colors in the bridal shots on your website.
)
I am getting married to my love of 7 years. I was his high school sweetheart. We have a son, Triston, who is 5. We are getting married on 8-9-10. We have been waiting so long for this and can’t wait for the next chapter to begin. Please consider my application. We have an established love and your photographs will never end up in the X-files. They will be cherished and printed with the highest quality standards- shared with our loved ones.
It’s a sign that your contest ends on Feb. 13- because you don’t need to search any longer! It’s my birthday that day!!!
Thank you again.
Ashley.

Whitney Wilson said:I LOVE YOUR WORK!! I’m getting married Aug. 14, to the man of my dreams!! Kelly and I met when I was a Junior in High School and he was a senior. We dated for one full year and then decided we needed to make sure we were right for each other so we broke off our exclusive relationship for a more casual one to date around but to still date each other. Now after 3 years+ of dating we are 100% sure we are meant to be and I would love you to do our photography and capture the moments of our wedding!!!!:)

Alex Jensen said:My fiancee and I met the first day of high school and have been together for over four years now. I’ve been working for the air national guard in Salt Lake City for over three years now and love every minute of it. I get to work with the KC-135’s and all other big aircraft.
I’m so lucky I get to marry my best friend and we have decided to get married in May 2010. After we get married we have discussed signing up for active duty air force and just see where it takes us from there.
We want to work with a photographer who is fun, creative, and who knows how to capture all the right moments! We would be honored to win this free wedding package and to have a chance to work with someone with such talent as you!
Thank You

Alyson Livingston said:I am the youngest of 8 children. I have had 4 sisters older than me that have all had amazing photographers for their weddings. I have seen your work and immediately fell in love. I am getting married in the beginning of June…. it is a moment many people have been waiting for. My fiancee and I have been dating for 4 and a half years. We were high school sweethearts and finally decided on the perfect time to tie the knot.
I have dreamed of a perfect wedding all my life — and life and expenses are really becoming reality. A big part of the wedding is photography and I know that this is one of the most important expenses on my wedding day!
Thanks so much!

Virginie van Driel said:So here is my story. I am not a first time bride, nor is my fiance a first time groom. As a matter of fact, we are both in our 50th and met through EHarmony (doesn’t that give other older couples hope?) We are going to get married on May 1st after knowing each other 4 years. It is not going to be an ordinary wedding (my wedding gown is black) and seeing your style of photography I thought it would fit, so I figured I take a chance and enter. However than I read the story of the Amdels and felt so selfish! I do not know the family, but I do know Chelsea should be the deserving bride, so my entree will be for Chelsea Amdel! Good luck Chelsea and a wonderful wedding day!!

Crystal Matheson said:I have what most people would call a normal circumstance. I am getting married to the person that I love and adore. I cherish him and get butterflies every time I see him. We both moved out of our parents’ houses at a young age and have worked hard to make it on our own. Now we are so happy that we will be able to build a life together after getting married.
Unfortunately, our budget has made it difficult to find a photographer. I have spent countless hours searching out individuals’ blogs, websites, and every other thing I could think of. We just simply can’t afford a quality photographer. Photography in my mind has always been the single most important service when planning for a wedding because it is the one thing you will have to remember the special day by.
When I saw on the Affordable Utah Weddings Blog that there was a photo giveaway my heart literally skipped a beat and I felt like I couldn’t click the link fast enough. My a ha moment came when I realized that I don’t have an amazing story to tell. All I know is that we are good people, we don’t have much but we are happy for what we have, and we do feel like we deserve this.
Trust me, if we are chosen the personality in your photos will definitely be apparent!!! If you want to capture emotion, fun, playfulness, and something original then we are your people! We would love to work with you!
Pretty please?
In any case, thank you for giving this opportunity!

Kellie said:Hello!
My name is Kelli Floyd. I attached a picture of my fiance and I so you can put faces with our story! We are getting married November 20, 2010 at the St. George Temple. I noticed in the blog that you requested that the wedding to be in SLC. If we were to win we would cover the travelling fee!
Josh served in the San Diego CA mission. While on his mission he converted a girl named Amanda Endicott (who is now entering the MTC next week) who later moved up to Northern CA, where I use to live. She told me about this missionary that was just amazing and how we would be the cutest most perfect couple ever and informed me that he would be getting off of his mission in a couple weeks. Once he was off and living in Utah, Amanda gave me his number and told me to call him. I lost that number and we never called each other. A month later he called me and we talked for hours and hours. Six months later I had decided it was time to move to Utah and take my chances. I moved to Provo and he moved up North from St. Geoge to South Jordan and our relationship took off from there!
Here we are today starting to plan our wedding and enjoying every bit of the journey and are anxiously awaiting November 20, 2010!
We want a rustic feel to our pictures and wedding reception. We are having our wedding reception in a barn (the inside has been remodeled and is beautiful)! We love the outdoors!
Josh and I feel that we deserve this free wedding package giveaway because we are such a great couple! Not the most original, I know, but it’s true! Get to know us and you will love us! Josh and I have a unique story and want every aspect of our wedding to be unique and looking through your photographs, I know you would be a perfect fit, especially for free!
Thank you so much for you time!

Falisha said:My name is Falisha Pierson, i love your photos so when i saw your contest on facebook i was super excited!!! So here is my entry to let you know why it would be AMAZING and a great idea for you to choose me.
Me and my finance Scott are getting married May 1st 2010 in Calgary canada. I know that this contest only covers Salt Lake area so no worries! The only thing that matters the most to us for our wedding (other than the whole part that we get to be together forever) is the photography. We want our day to last forever. The only problem is… is that we are a little poor and relying on the budget our parents were going to give us for most of the money for our photographer. Since the economy is bad neither of our parents have to means to help either. The wedding is going to be super small and we are not going to be able to have a photographer at the actual wedding since it is way too expensive. My brother is willing to take the photos so we will at least have those memories. We decided we would try to take some pictures here after our wedding so we could still have a great photographer take pictures of us in our outfits. Since it is more likely for it to work for us. If we were to win it would be a HUGE blessing!
I know that if you consider us we will be FOREVER grateful! Thank you so much for this opportunity!

Ashley said:So, my name is Ashley Peel. I’m not sure that I deserve this as much as some of the other people who have entered, but I figured I may as well enter for what it’s worth. I am a college student graduating this May and then I’ll be getting married two weeks later on the 28th of May. The man I’m marrying, Nick, is also a student and we both live on tight budgets. I lost my main job last semester and I’ve been struggling to find another this one. Because of this, our parents will be helping us with mostly all of the expenses. Unfortunately, due to my Mother’s health issues stemming from a car accident 10 years ago, my parents don’t have much to spare, especially since she is due for a serious back surgery this year. (I hope it will happen after the wedding). I know we’ll be able to find some sort of solution to our budget problems one way or another, but if we did get this it would be a wonderful blessing. I love your photos and thanks for your time!

Alex Rudd said:this message is in favor of someone trying to win the contest. Anne Rudd/Austin Shaw. Anne is my sister so yes, my views are in her favor. But I think her and Austin should win for two reasons. First is their story. They actually went to the same high school but didn’t know each other there. It wasn’t until later when they came to work at the same place. Sometimes life is all about timing. The second reason is Austin. Anne is the only girl in our family with three brothers. This made her tough growing up with us, which means Austin is tough to now be with her. Also, Anne has infinite protection provided by her three brothers and Austin is the only guy who has earned our respect. Okay, so I have a third reason: they are a real cute couple and you’ll get some great pics for your portfolio. Thanks for reading!

Heather Walton for Anne Rudd said:My name is heather walton. – have been friends with anne rudd for over 14 years! She is one of the most amazing people and has always had to work hard for everything she has! It would be an amazing gift to give her! Her fiance wants her to have the wedding of her dremas, but with the cost of a wedding nowadays it is becoming increasingly difficult for her to be able to realize her “dream” wedding. It would be a dream come true for her to know that her day was captured in just the right way! They are planning on getting married sometime in June 2010 but it all depends on the cost of everything. My entry is for Anne Rudd! She has always been there for me and I would love to suprise her with a gift of photography!

Aubree & Jason said:Our story begins on a blind date in high school, 3 years ago. We continued to stay friends throughout high school then Jason left on a mission. We wrote a few letters back and forth, but then lost contact. When he returned from his mission, Jason finally got the courage to ask me out on a date again. We got engaged last September and our Wedding date is on May 22nd. We had to postpone the wedding because of financial/health reasons for both families. We are getting married in the Salt Lake Temple. J I saw your pictures of the Salt Lake Temple and they look wonderful!
My mother (of 6 children) is trying so hard to help keep the costs down for the wedding, she’s even going to try and make the wedding cake, and make our own decorations for our church building. Also on top of that she is planning on making all the food herself for the reception, to ensure the costs will stay down, but yet at the same time to ensure that I have a wonderful day! The reason I would love this package is to be able to give as a gift to my mother to thank her for putting all her efforts towards my wedding day.
Thanks for your time!

Ginette Gonzalez said:I’m commenting on Anne Rudd and Austin Shaw’s wedding. I work with Anne at the lab since last year. She is a very sweet girl, and has been really kind and patient with me, as she was one of my trainers when I first started working here. Austin is also a very nice and funny guy. They make a great couple. I hope you choose them for the wedding photo give-away.
I’m a newlywed myself, and I remember how stressful it was to plan the event. I was getting married in my home country and didn’t have much time to screen out a wedding photographer. I was really lucky that I found someone whose work I enjoyed, and I will forever cherish my wedding pictures. Looking at them, I forget all the stress and runnign around, and remember only the happiness that day.
I think every couple deserves that same experience, and from getting to spend a little time here and there with them, I really do hope that Austin and Anne get to have that as well.
Thanks,
Ginette Gonzalez-Weyer

Sandra Osborn for Anne Rudd said:Hi! My name is Sandra Osborn. I am writing in behalf of my dear friend Anne Rudd. I have known Anne since college. Anne is a most beautiful and loyal friend. Austin is a really lucky guy to have her. They are planning on a June wedding. What makes them deserving of a free wedding package? Their enthusiasm for life, love, and friends! A wedding is a time to celebrate all that is awesome in life. Anne and Austin’s wedding will be the embodiment of love committed, excitement shared with those who rejoice in their union. Anne and Austin have a connection that radiates. To capture it through your lens would be a privilege. Your free wedding package would be the perfect gift for such a fun couple.

It is so fun to be able to share this exciting time with her and her fiance. Planning a wedding is hard work as I’ve just experienced myself and choosing a photographer was one of the most stressful parts..I know Anne deserves to have the peace of mind that these precious memories will be captured by the right photographer! I don’t think I know anyone more deserving, they are one of the most fun loving couples I have ever known. Please grant Anne and Austin the gift of this wedding package.
Thank you for your time!
